Billy Martin: notable collaborations and film music

Billy Martin is a native New Yorker born 1963 to a Radio City Rockette and concert viiolinist. World renowned as innovative drummer, composer and visual artist who formed the avant funk trio Medeski, Martin and Wood.

cropped-lifeondrums1.jpgRecording and performing with Iggy Pop, John Lurie, John Zorn, Natalie Merchant, Marc Ribot, John Scofield, Nels Cline and many more. Martin has produced over 50 records most notably The Road To Jajouka with Flea, Ornette Coleman, Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Bill Lazwell, DJ Logic and Mickey Hart (The Grateful Dead).

Film composer: MIRAGE (Hungary 2015) starring Issach De Bankole, The Shell Collector (2016). Collaborations with Howard Shore in Maps to the Stars; John Lurie in Fishing with John, Manny and Lo and Get Shorty; Wim Wenders’ The End of Violence.

Billy was also featured in the movie Blue in the Face with John Lurie as street musician and on the soundtrack record.
